Bookings are now open for the Toolkit Towards Publication publishing masterclass for 2025!

I will be running the course again starting on Wednesday 18th June 2025, and running for six weeks, with each session running from 7pm – 8.30pm AEST.

Across the six weeks, we will be covering:

  • Week 1 Introduction to Literary Agents (what they do, when you do and don’t need one)
  • Week 2 Introduction to Publishing Departments (how the traditional publishing industry all fits together)
  • Week 3 Acquisitions, Costings, and Introduction to Copyright (Acquisitions are a revelation and copyright will be more fun that it sounds, I promise!)
  • Week 4 Introduction to Publishing Contracts ((Includes tricks & trips of publishing deals) (Also fun!)
  • Week 5 Pitching Dos and Donts (Overview of what to focus on in your pitch, the differences between written and verbal pitches, how to best position yourself to pitch to the right people).
  • Week 6 Opportunity to practice a live pitch, with critique feedback from agents.

With a class size big enough to build a cohort, and small enough for meaningful conversation, this is a great opportunity to build your knowledge of the industry. This course includes access to a private Facebook group to keep conversations going during the week, and a chance to ask follow up questions as you think of them.
