I talk a lot about the different hats people wear in the publishing industry – and here at Alex Adsett Literary, I have two hats in particular I swap between – literary agent, and publishing consultant.
As a consultant, I can help authors negotiate their publishing offers or publishing contracts for a flat fee rate, or let them know if something looks like a scam at no cost. I’ve been offering this service since 2008 and have helped thousands of authors get a better, fairer deal from their publisher.
On Tuesdays and Fridays, authors can also book in for a 15 min “Ask Me Anything” session for quick questions and general publishing advice, or a longer 60 min consultation for in-depth strategic advice, publishing explanations and discussions. Links to these paid sessions are available here.
(Note: Consultancy services do not provide editorial advice or a shortcut to agency representation. We try very hard to keep an ethical line in the sand between agenting (no fee ever, commission only) and consultancy services (flat fee rates for time worked)).
