October 2025 saw principal agent Alex Adsett and rights manager Kabita Dhara attend their first Frankfurt Book Fair for Alex Adsett Literary. After months of preparation, the fair itself was as huge, intense, manic and fun as everyone had promised (and threatened) over the years. The team took more than 45 meetings across the five days, and while exhausting, we thoroughly enjoyed meeting new publishing colleagues from around the world.
The Fair itself felt incredibly buzzy and optimistic. People seemed keen to acquire across most areas. Romantasy is still in demand, but the market is so saturated, publishers are barely interested unless there is a real point of difference. Crime suspense, YA crime, dark academic, and literary gothic were all of interest across the board.
